What is Silk’n PRO?:
Silk'n PRO is a salon strength hi-tech hair removal device that uses intense pulsed light to remove hair and interrupt the re-growth of hair deep down in the follicle, providing a long term hair removal solution. What is the difference between the Silk'n Sensepil & Silk'n PRO?:
Both the PRO and Sensepil have the same spot treatment size. The Silk'n Sensepil comes in pink and the Silk'n PRO & Classic in baby blue - both the Sensepil and PRO can be used on the face. The added advantage of the PRO is that it comes with two Lamp cartridges whereas the Sensepil only comes with one.
What is Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology?:
The use of pulsed light technology has grown increasingly popular over the past 15 years, as a way of safely and effectively achieving long term hair reduction. IPL technology uses optical energy to disable hair growth. The hair shaft selectively absorbs the light energy (thanks to the melanin or pigment in the hair) and transforms it into heat. The heat energy is mostly absorbed by the pigment in the hair shaft and the surrounding skin remains cool. The heat in the hair shaft eventually disables hair growth
How does the Silk’n PRO work?:
The light energy is absorbed by the pigment in the hair shaft and transformed into heat energy which effectively removes the hair and damages the hair follicle so that hair re-growth is hindered. A flash of light occurs when you trigger the treatment – this is the light energy that is sent into the hair shaft. The device also has a cooling fan which makes a noise similar to a blow dryer. The fan keeps the skin around the hair shaft cool. The pulsed light technology is enhanced by a unique acoustic effect that improves the effectiveness of the photoepilation process.
How do I use the Silk’n PRO?
Simply place the Silk’n PRO on the area of skin that you want to treat. Apply moderate pressure and press the button on top of the hair removal device. You will hear a quiet popping sound as the flash of light energy is emitted. Then move on to the adjacent area and repeat until you have covered the whole area you wish to treat. Treat the area again every 2 weeks until you have completed 3 or 4 sessions. After this you can treat the area more frequently until you have achieved the desired hair reduction results.
How long does the Silk’n PRO take to work?:
It has been clinically proven that 40-60% permanent hair reduction can be seen after 5 treatments. Results are not immediate and you may think hair is still growing following treatment, but many of these hairs will simply fall out after 2 weeks. It is necessary to repeat the treatment to see permanent hair reduction.
Are there any side effects to using the Silk’n PRO?:
Silk’n PRO has been designed with safety in mind. You will experience a sensation of warmth and tingling when you use the device. Remember to use low energy settings for the first few treatments. You should not use this hair removal device if you have naturally dark skin. Treating dark skin can result in adverse effects such as burns, blisters and skin colour changes (hyper- or hypo-pigmentation). Avoid exposing your eyes and sensitive areas, like the lips, to the light.
